I love the internet. Almost everything I do is on the internet. If it wasn’t for some problems, I probably would be totally in “the cloud.” But I still live in the desktop. Let’s go over some of the problems.

• Home Network insatiability – Routers constantly disconnecting, FairPoint having problems, snow storms, etc…
• The internet isn’t everywhere you are – In the car, on an Airplane, a place where you can’t get Dial-up, DSL, or Cable, etc…
• Too expensive or too cheap – For Cable, you pay a pretty heavy price, but get really speedy internet. For DSL, it’s slower, MUCH slower, and much cheaper. Also, if you want wireless wherever you are, you have to pay a really high price to a service like AT&T or Sprint, for pretty slow internet. Hey, at least you have it.
• Video editing – To edit video up in “the cloud,” you have to upload it first. Which takes a while, even if you have very fast internet. And if you finish the video, you’ll probably have to download it, which also takes a while.
• Services go down – Websites have outages when you need them most. This has happened with Twitter, Microsoft, and some other sites, like email.
• Mobile Devices are limited – Most Mobile Phones don’t have Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, Sun Java, and possibly Java Script.

As you can see, most of these points have to do with being disconnected. As I’ve said, I love the cloud, but I’m still going to download desktop Twitter, Facebook, and email applications just for those outages.

Yes, that's Google Chrome

Google just announced a new beta for Google Chrome. And I have some problems with it.

Problem #1: New Tab Page
I love chrome, especially for its “New Tab” Page. You know, the one that lists the most visited websites you’ve been to, and the recently closed tabs? Granted, I like that you can now move the “Recently Visited” pages around, but now I have to scroll down to see my recently closed tabs. Extra work. Isn’t Chrome supposed to be simple? Ok, call me lazy.

Problem #2: The Themes
Ok. I see potential in this, but some of the themes are just DISGUSTING. They don’t have Aero Glass, either. Yes, I like some of the themes, but… you know.

Features they should add to Chrome:

• Full Screen Tabs – Chrome should have a feature to switch tabs while in full screen mode.
• Windows 7 Taskbar Integration – Where you can access jump lists of your recently visited, multiple window buttons for tabs, etc. IE & Safari already has this feature.
• RSS Feeds – Hopefully they’ll add a RSS reader.
• Multiple search select button – Drop down box to select a search engine.
• Plug-in support – Like Firefox.

All in all, I like Google Chrome. I’ve liked it for a while. It still needs a lot of more features, like plug-in support, and full screen tabs, but, at least they are making a good browser better.
